The CT River Valley section is pleased to announce a free virtual meeting to be held on Thursday, May 13th from 12-1pm.  The topic is The COVID-19 Vaccine: from Discovery to Deployment.  

  • Dr. Albert Ko, Department Chair and Professor of Epidemiology (Microbial Diseases) and of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) at Yale School of Public Health, will be speaking about the various vaccines types, and the success and failure of the mRNA design. Dr. Ko will address R&D investments costs, and the mechanisms that bought the vaccine to market so quickly.
  • Dr. Richard Martinello, Associate Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and of Pediatrics; and Medical Director for Infection Prevention at Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale New Haven Health, will be speaking about the logistics and staffing issues for vaccine facilities. He will discuss the use of computer tracking systems for vaccine distribution and solutions for widespread vaccine distribution from the micro to macro level.

Please register by Tuesday, May 11th at 6pm.  The day before the meeting, an email will be sent with a link to the zoom meeting to the email address used in the registration.
