Title: "Why is the man exploding? Interpreting HazCom for the workplace."
In this presentation, we'll discuss the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and its intersection with Industrial Hygiene. We'll cover the basics of the GHS as implemented by OSHA, the 2024 updates, and how to ensure compliance and use HazCom to improve workplace health and safety.
Presenters: Denese A. Deeds, CIH, FAIHA, SDSRP. Denese is an AIHA fellow and helped create the AIHA SDS and Label Author Registry. She has been authoring SDS for over forty years. She is currently a delegate to the GHS Subcommittee of Experts on behalf of the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council. She has recently been asked to coauthor the updated Hazard Communication Chapter in The Occupational Environment which is in the process of being revised.
Chandra Gioiello, MS, CIH, SDSRP. IHSC, LLC. Chandra is also a cocreator of the Label Author Registry, a delegate to the GHS Subcommittee of Experts, and coauthor of the revised Hazard Communication Chapter with Denese. She coauthored the Hazard Communication chapter in the revised edition of Industrial Hygiene Performance Metrics.
They run IHSC, LLC which is a small consulting firm that focuses on SDS and label authoring. They have present Hazard Communication courses for AIHA, SCHC, and other organizations.
